Migrant Resource Centres, Pakistan
The Migrant Resource Centres (MRCs) are established under the auspices of Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development (MOPHRD) and Department of Labour (DoL), Punjab in Islamabad and Lahore. MRCs provides information and counselling to the intended migrants on safe migration, raises awareness on irregular migration, migrant smuggling, human trafficking and the related serious risks, in order to empower potential migrants and encourage them to make informed choices, as well as referral to skills providing institutions and trade testing centres.
These centres are operational since January, 2016 with the funding from European Union and implemented by International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD).
Migrant Resource Centre - Afghanistan
The Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) in Afghanistan follows the Government’s response for the prevention of irregular migration, the empowerment of migrants, in particular in raising awareness on legal migration and the dangers and consequences of irregular migration and the protection of migrants’ rights.
The Migrant Resource Centre offers accurate information on the risks of irregular migration, human trafficking and migrant smuggling, legal migration procedures and documentation required to outgoing, intending and potential migrants, how to stay safe during the migration process, as well as the rights and responsibilities that migrants have throughout the migration process. The MRC also play a role in helping migrants to understand how they can become active contributors to the development of their countries of origin. Depending on the migrants’ specific needs, MRCs can also link with technical training institutes and language courses in Afghanistan as well as local job market opportunities. The MRC is placed in Kabul with the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation (MoRR) and is currently conducting information sessions at schools, technical trainings centres and universities. The MRC furthermore operates the migration hotline 5588 where people of all over the country can call toll-free and ask questions on migration as well as a website and Facebook page
Migrant Resource Centres - Bangladesh
Two Migrant resource centres have been established in Dhaka and Cumilla. MRCs are under supervision of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment (MEWOE) and integrated with the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) and District Employment and Manpower Office (DEMO).

Asian Migrant Centre (AMC) – Hong Kong
Established in 1991, the Asian Migrant Centre (AMC) is a regional NGO based in Hong Kong. AMC carries out action oriented research on migration issues, policy and media advocacy, and capacity building for organisations working to empower, protect and promote the rights of migrants in Asia.
Since 2002, AMC enjoyes a Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) of the United Nations.
